Plastic packaging, composites and metal packaging

Items that can be put in the mixed packaging container:

  • plastic bottles for drinks and foodstuffs,

  • plastic glasses and cups,

  • plastic bags and foils,

  • cardboard packaging for liquid foodstuffs (e.g. tetra pack cartons for milk and fruit juice),

  • plastic packaging of non-hazardous chemicals (emptied appropriately),

  • empty food tins and drinks cans,

  • polystyrene packaging,

  • plastic crates.

Items that CANNOT BE PUT in the mixed packaging container:

  • bulky plastic products (e.g. toys, broken plastic chairs etc.),

  • plastic packaging of hazardous substances (packaging for motor oils and other types of mineral oils, weedkillers, paints, varnishes, diluents etc.),

  • metal packaging of hazardous substances (packging for motor oils and other types of mineral oils, weedkillers, paint, varnishes, diluents etc.).

Plastic packaging and cans must be empty and clean.

If 1 kg of plastic bottles is recycled, 1.5 kg of CO2 is saved, 1 t of recycled plastic saves 2 t of oil, as the majority of substances for producing plastic materials are obtained from oil. If 1 kg of tins is recycled, 9 kg CO2 is saved; tin recycling saves 95 % of energynecessary for processing aluminium ore. Every year there are ca. 100 billion tins in circulation for beverages, most of them are aluminium.
